Alhen History

Alhen Captor was fifteen when everything started, when his best friend Kulira Vantas came to him with a proposition. Kulira's girlfriend Leona was friends with some people who had a plan to stop all of the violence that their city had been plagued with over the years due to the gang wars between Prospit and Derse. To help build their own gang, one that would be devoted to keeping the peace and stopping the fights from spreading into Skaia City. The idea of murder wasn't to pleasant at first, but he came to the same conclusion his friends had. Whenever true peace is achieved, there's always blood on someone's hands. He agreed, and within the year the newly formed Alpha Omega gang managed to clean out most of the rival gangs from Derse and Prospit from the streets of Skaia. Even for a gang of eight people, they proved themselves to be a force to be reckoned with so long as they were protecting their home. When the leader Jake wanted to make it official to keep their newly attained peace but not willing to run it himself, Alhen met the two women who would change his life.

The man Jake had chosen to act Boss in his stead was Dorian Scratch, and with him came his two daughters that were around the age of most the gang members. Kait Peixes and Shera Megido, both of which were rather rebellious against their father at the time and didn't heed his warnings to stay away from the boys. That only encouraged Alhen as he flirted shamelessly with both of them, rather entranced with each in their own way. Shera was less interested to his mild dismay, though she did open his mind to seeing murder as an art form instead of simply a job. She was the one to teach him that in order to do your job well you must enjoy it to a degree and eventually learn to love it to perfect it. Kait, on the other hand, was a bit more of a handful and returned the flirting only for the pleasure of spiting her father. Despite Alhen being more than aware if Scratch hadn't said a word she probably wouldn't be interested, he took full advantage of the situation as most young boys would.

Every action has a consequence, and his came in the best and worst way possible. A father at age 17, and a single one at that. Scratch suggested an abortion, and of course that just made Kait wish to have the child in the first place. However, neither Scratch nor Kait had any intentions of keeping the child or even associating with it. Alhen refused to let the boy go to foster care, so he took it upon himself even knowing the dangers of keeping a child in his line of work. Unlike some of the others though, he made the choice of making sure his son never knew of his real job. As far as Sollux would be concerned, his father was simply a blackjack dealer at the local casino.

But that didn't stop Kait from being interested in him, though not quite in the way he would have preferred. Her interest was almost an obsession, seeing him as a toy that she could play with at will. She would get jealous of Shera easily, and though it would amuse him he knew better than to push it to make things more complicated than they needed to be. Shera was his teacher, but Kait quickly became his owner. She even insisted on replacing his trademark red and blue shades with a pair of high tech goggles she had made especially for him. Red and blue lenses, but with her favorite color as the primary. A mark that showed who he belonged to, and he really didn't mind too much. The glasses he once adored were put to a better cause, given to his son one the boy was old enough not to lose them.

The closer Alhen got to his new gang, the more he began to open up to them to where it got to the point where he could admit his secret that only Kulira and Rosa had known. As he put it, he could predict who was going to die soon. If he were standing in a room full of people, he could hear the voice of the one who would die in his mind. After that, it became tradition for anyone who went out on a hit to see him first so they would be prepared. Even if he ever had to confirm it, there was no backing down once a hit was accepted. They weren't going to have any of those self fulfilling prophecy bullshits going around if they could help it. Thanks to that little gift, he quickly gained the nickname Psi.

When Kulira and Leona left the gang for the sake of their two children, Alhen almost considered joining them. But it was too late for him, Shera had gotten him on the path of perfection and he couldn't take the idea of leaving it before he reached the end. A normal life seemed unnatural almost, so he stayed and continued perfecting what he did best. He never regretted his choice, until everyone's world was shattered by a little girl. Shera's younger sister Aradia, the baby of their family, had bonded with Alhen over the years because of her unique ability to hear the voices of the dead. He admired her, because even so small it never seemed to scare her. Which is why one day when they found her crying, no one was sure what exactly to do. Until she told them that she heard Kulira and Leona.

They knew they were too late by the time they arrived, but not even being able to find the two children nearly broke him. For the longest time he blamed himself, convinced that if he had been there with them he could have at least tried to warn them in advance so they might stand a chance and their children at least would have been safe. Years passed before he got over it, but eventually the guilt faded into the back of his mind. He would be useless to the gang if he dwelled too often and that would only result in more deaths.

It was a few years later when he came across a man that called himself Dualscar, a gambler who thought he owned the world and could cheat the tables without even blinking an eye. It was the man's arrogance that stopped Alhen from outright calling him on it, instead he simply played the man right into his hands and used his pride against him to force him deep into a hole of debt he couldn't hope to crawl out of. When it came time for him to pay up though, it was Alhen who suggested Dualscar simply pay off the debt by working for them. But the Ampora's weren't having any of that, instead offering up their thirteen year old son. While annoyed his plan to make Dualscar suffer further failed, Scratch was pleased enough with the idea and gave Alhen a raise when the profits started going up thanks to the Princess of Hope they had acquired as their new mascot.

The years passed relatively uneventful after that, the biggest shock and joy seeing Kulira and Leona's missing son Karkat show back up with the addition of a gang from Derse joining them. Even then, he didn't say a word. Even when he was shocked to see that somehow Karkat had become close to Sollux in the way that Alhen and Kulira used to be, he held his thoughts on the matter to himself. It was only when he heard his son speaking of a boy who could be none other than Eridan Ampora, the Princess himself, that he began to worry. And he was right to, because the moment he looked the other way Ampora was doing the one thing he was never supposed to do. He told Sollux his story of how he came to join the Hope Casino and what it really was behind the scenes.

And as furious young men who find out they had be lied to their entire lives often do, Sollux demanded answers from his father. Alhen had no choice but to come clean with everything he had hidden over the years, including about who Sollux's mother really was.
